Menumortu’s mesmerizing mixed media collages transport you to a realm where reality and dreamagination collide.
They evoke a sensual mystery, showcasing the surrealism of existence.

“I dance between symmetry and asymmetry, soothing
and haunting, honoring
the quest for perfection and accepting inadequacy.
My vision flirts with melancholy, desire and mindfulness.”

Taking pride in creating analog works, he uses handcutting techniques, upcycled, vintage and natural materials. He engages with mistakes, improvisation and serendipity.

”The art of collaging parallels the development of our personality and worldview. We find ourselves in front of situations & people, thoughts & moods, and we piece them together to create meaning.

Oftentimes we get a bizarre story, a sense of inadequacy or a confusion we can live with: I find these to be essential parts of humankind’s beauty.”

Menumortu is a Moldavian artist.
He embraced the collage medium in 2015, working with Soviet-era and fashion magazines discovered at local markets in Chisinau.
